Any idea why Frank's small comets were ignored? Does it step on the toes of someone else's pet theory? I still don't grasp why these ideas weren't just adopted into the canon.
If you will go back into my archives, my February 2 article, 'Ground Hog Day' covers more specifically the 'why' Frank's discovery has been buried. In contrast to Alfred Wegener's idea, the father of the continental drift theory, no one wanted to believe him either. (for one, he was a weatherman) But there was no peer-review in those days, everyone remembered Wegener's idea. It immediately became a theory that had to be proved wrong. No one could and it moved into the, as you say, the canon about fifty years later. Max Plank said, "scientists don't change their minds, they grow old and die" paraphrase.
We live in a forgetful age. Too much information, or something, (the something is what I usually write about) Peer-review is supposed to validate research. Turns out it works just as well to validate fraud and bury discovery. Peer-review is corrupted by "interests" that is money, or mammon is a better word. It's like the church telling believer's "we will decide what you will believe about the bible" In an age when everyone can decide for themselves, we find only a small minority want the burden. Most people will not offer sacrifice for the truth.
Really fascinating essay; thank you.

Great article; makes me think of a parallel buried subject; the Heavenly Sanctuary Ministry of Jesus Christ ....
